Floyd Teasley of Harriman had no trouble remembering his daughter’s birthday. His daughter, Kristie, was the first baby born in 1985. He was the New Year’s baby of 1960.

The Food Lion at Roane Street and Ruritan Road in Harriman announced its closing. Fifteen of 88 locations in the state also closed. Open in 1997, a corporate spokesman said the store was simply “not profitable,” costing more to operate than it brought in.

Roane County’s Caney Creek RV Resort and Marina was named large Tennessee Campground of the Year by the board of directors of the Tennessee Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. The Midtown area campground was recognized for its operations, marketing, management and industry unity.

One Year Ago
In a move that was a shock to its six employees, Seton Thrift Store in Harriman announced Goodwill would be taking over the store. Despite the loss of the food pantry, a Catholic Charities representative thought the store would be in “good hands.”
