Four Harriman women treated Betty Dunn, wife of former governor and gubernatorial hopeful, Winfield Dunn, to a “morning call” during Dunn’s visit to Roane County. Margo Ahler, Gina Alexander, Lynn Cunningham and Nancy Newcomb initiated the call as a resurrection of a social institution that flourished during the Civil War period. Its purpose is to honor out-of-town dignitaries and house guests.
