Due to “allegations from various sources,” the state Division of Municipal Audits, under the heading of the Comptroller of the Treasury, is reviewing records of the city of Rockwood. The Comptroller of the Treasury is responsible for making sure proper accounting procedures are in place and that public funds are adequately accounted for.

Dr. Tom Boduch was honored with a dinner for his near decade of service to Habitat for Humanity in Roane County. Starting as a volunteer, his dedication to Habitat resulted in his being named to the Roane County Habitat board of directors and later chosen as president for the organization. He even obtained his contractor’s license so he could officially sign off on Habitat projects.

Five Years Ago

Gas prices in Roane County dropped below $2 a gallon for the first time in over a year. Fuel prices were near the $3 level earlier in the year.

A vehicle driven by an 85 year old female went off the road on Hwy. 70 and slammed into a parked car which struck the Blue Moon Cafe beside Kingston City Park. Two workers at the cafe had stepped outside just before the accident occurred. The driver was taken to the hospital in Oak Ridge.
