Timothy Wayne Sanders, a 42-year-old Rockwood man, is in trouble with the law.
His problems aren’t in state court, however.
Sanders is charged in federal court with two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was arrested in Rockwood last week by members of the Roane County Sheriff’s Office.
He’s since been transferred to the Blount County Jail in Maryville where he’s being held without bond.
A 23-year-old Harriman man was Tasered by Roane County Sheriff’s Deputy Vianney Del Toro on Saturday.
According to the report, Gordon Wesley Gillespie exited a Ford Expedition and started running away when Del Toro approached to arrest him on a violation of community corrections warrant.
“Due to Mr. Gillespie’s continued effort to flee, I drew my Taser and delivered a standard 5-second charge,” the report said. “Mr. Gillespie was temporarily incapacitated. However, due to him falling while running, one of the Taser probes came loose and Mr. Gillespie continued to attempt to flee.”
With the help of Sheriff’s Deputy John Mayes, Del Toro was eventually able to take Gillespie into custody.
“Mr. Gillespie then stated he wished to inform deputies that there was a box in his pocket that contained ‘fake dope,’” the report said. “Mr. Gillespie made the statement ‘if a (expletive) comes up and asks for some crack and I ain’t got nothing real, I’m going to give it to them.’”
The report said Gillespie was in possession of several small plastic baggies that contained a white powdery rock-like substance. It field tested negative for crack cocaine.
In addition to the violation of community corrections warrant, Gillespie is also charged with evading arrest, counterfeit controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The sheriff’s office charged a Ten Mile man with aggravated assault and aggravated robbery on Aug. 9.
According to the report, Steven Blaine Richards allegedly threatened his aunt with a knife and stole her PT Cruiser.
“Donna (Richards) states that Steven took her car keys off of the night stand, told her that if she ever wanted to see her car again that she had better not call the police, and walked out of the door stating that he was ‘going to kill his kids,’” the report said.
The aunt told police that Steven Blaine Richards had two daughters who live in Etowah with their mother.
An alert was issued for him and the PT Cruiser.
The report said Etowah police were at Carolina Collins Richards’ residence checking on her and the two children when they saw a vehicle matching the description pass by.
“Officer (John) Amos advised that they made contact with Steven Richards inside of the vehicle, recovered a knife from the front passenger floorboard of the vehicle,” the report said, “and that after being detained, Steven Richards had lunged at Carolina Collins Richards on scene while in handcuffs and in the presence of officers.”
