A Roane County man is in stable condition after being shot Monday morning.

The victim was Joshua Brown, according to authorities.

Bobby Lee Murray Jr., 53, of Old Elverton Road, in Harriman, is accused of shooting Brown with a shotgun.

“We are trying to determine what happened. We have conflicting stories,” said Sheriff Jack Stockton.

Stockton said Brown had injuries to the back and right side, but they weren’t life-threatening.

Murray was still in custody Tuesday, listed as being charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Stockton said Brown is the young man who lost his family, including wife, Stephanie, and their three children, Gage, Jackson and infant, Grayson, in a crash on Hwy. 61 on Aug. 30, 2011.

The shooting occurred on Old Elverton Road, Stockton said.
