Medic Regional Blood Center asks all eligible donors to make a donation this summer.

“Donations are down this time of year; yet, the need is great due to the increase traffic and recreation in our area,” said Christi Fightmaster, Medic spokeswoman.

Donors will have three chances in the upcoming weeks to give blood in Roane County.

A Medic mobile unit will be at Oliver Springs Food City from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 21 for a blood drive.

A drive at Rockwood Walmart Supercenter is planned for June 27. A Medic mobile unit will be on site from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Kingston First Baptist Church will have a blood drive from 2 to 8 p.m. June 29 in room 151 at the church at 215 N. Kentucky St.

Donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Anyone age 16 can be a donor with parental consent. They must weigh at least 120 pounds. All donors will be asked for identification.
