A number of Roane County area veterans participate in Midway Elementary School’s annual breakfast in observance of Veterans Day. The students, faculty and staff honor those who have served in the armed forces during the event and use the event as a way to thank them for protecting America’s freedoms.
Also attending the event are Mollie Eason, left, and Makayla Cordell, both of whom just completed basic training. They are 2012 graduates of Roane County High School.
Angie O’Brien and her second-grade class relay a special message to the veterans.
Guest speaker for the event is Major Preston Woody, who grew up in the area and attended Midway schools.
