Midway sets Bear trap, 28-14

For the first time since 1992, the Midway Green Wave would get a win over Tellico Plains, as Joe Campbell’s squad downed the Bears, 28-14 Friday night at Midway.

Midway LB Zach Qualls saved the day for the Green Wave, as with Midway clinging to a 21-14 lead, Qualls intercepted a Bear pass and returned it 60 yards with nine seconds left on the clock to secure the Green Wave the victory.

With the win, Midway is now 3-3 overall and 1-1 in District 3-A. The win was also important to Midway’s chances of making the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
