On a night where defense was the name of the game, the Midway Middle School Green Wave split a pair of games at Lenoir City.
The Lady Waves opened the evening with a tough 22-16 loss at the hands of the Lady Panthers, but Midway got its revenge in the nightcap game, winning 26-23.
One bad quarter cost the Lady Waves a shot at victory Thursday night.
The first period would see the Lady Waves battle the Lady Panthers to a 7-7 tie, but Midway failed to score in the second period as Lenoir City took a 12-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The third quarter was like the first. Both teams scored five points to leave the Lady Panthers on top, 17-12.
Midway then scored just four points in the final period as Lenoir City held on for the six point victory.
Five players scored for Midway on the night. Caitlyn Ross led the way with seven points.

On a night where most everybody had trouble scoring, Midway’s Hunter Hester scored 15 points in leading the Green Wave to a 26-23 victory over the Panthers.
Hester and Briley Parks scored three points each in the opening period to lead Midway to a 10-4 lead after six minutes of play.
The second period was played to a 6-6 tie, leaving Midway with a 16-10 lead at intermission.
Hester scored four of Midway’s points in the second quarter.
The third quarter would see Midway score just four points, their they held Lenoir City to just two in taking a 20-12 lead into the final period of play.
Lenoir City threatened in the final period, but Midway held on in the end, 26-23.
Hester scored all six Midway points in the fourth quarter.
