Rockwood police have charged the driver of a vehicle that crashed into a Roane County day-care center last Monday.
Miranda Michelle Guy, 23, of 1469 Riggs Chapel Road, Harriman, has been cited for drug paraphernalia and for the violation of a code for drivers to exercise due care in conjunction with crash at The Henry Center.
Guy was driving northbound on Hwy. 27 when she lost control of her vehicle, which authorities said careened off the roadway, went over a median and jumped a chain-link fence before crashing into the metal structure that houses The Henry Center, a Michael Dunn Center-affiliated child-care and early-intervention facility.
Officials at the daycare said it was a blessing nobody was hurt in the accident, but the possibility was a close one.
Just moments before the vehicle crashed through the classroom wall, a teacher, hearing strange sounds, moved a sleeping girl from the area.
According to Rockwood officials, the driver told the reporting officer she was adjusting her car radio when she lost control of the vehicle that plowed into a classroom for 3-year-old children.
Guy was taken by ambulance to Roane Medical Center following the incident.
