Mr. and Mrs. Jerry White will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Dec. 31.
Their day will be celebrated with their children and grandchildren, followed by all the family attending church together.
White and the former Phyllis Daniels were married on Dec. 31, 1971, in Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Oliver Springs, by the Rev. C.J. Holt, who was pastor of the church at that time.
He is the son of Fred White of Oliver Springs and the late Inez Keylon White, and she is the daughter of the late Shirley and Agnes Daniels.
The Whites were high school sweethearts and were voted “Cutest Couple” of their 1970 graduating class. He is retired from Wackenhut of Oak Ridge and is now assisting with the care of his father. She will retire from the Department of Agriculture in Knoxville on Jan. 26.
The couple, who said they attribute their 40 years of marriage to their love of God and His wonderful love and amazing grace, have three children: daughter Kristy and husband Kevin Seeber, sons, Korey and wife Myranda White and Kasey and Lindsay White.
There are five grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Karson Seeber, Kylee White, Keigan and Keylon White. A set of twins is expected in July.
