The Mt. Pisgah Christian Academy Patriots hosted Maryville Christian Tuesday and picked up a split against the Eagles and Lady Eagles.
In the girls game, Mt. Pisgah held a three-point lead after three periods of play, but couldn’t hold on down the stretch as Maryville Christian picked up a 53-44 victory.
The boys game would see Mt. Pisgah build a double digit lead by halftime and hold a comfortable lead throughout the second half on their way to a 59-49 victory.
Girls Game
Tuesday’s game was close throughout, but the Lady Eagles played their best down the stretch and the result was a nine-point victory.
Both teams scored nine points in the first quarter before Mt. Pisgah used a 9-7 advantage in the second period to take an 18-16 lead at halftime.
The duo of Morgan Walls (8 points) and Sonja Miller (8 points) combined for all but two of Mt. Pisgah’s points in the first half while Rachel Hamby scored seven points for Maryville Christian.
Both offenses picked up the pace in the third quarter as Miller buried a pair of three-pointers and scored eight points while Walls added six to give the Lady Patriots a 34-31 lead with eight minutes left to play.
Hamby scored seven points in the third period for Maryville Christian, but she really heated up in the fourth to lead the Lady Eagles to the victory. Hamby knocked scored 11 points in the frame as Maryville Christian rallied late for the 53-44 victory.
Walls and Miller scored 16 points each for Mt. Pisgah on the evening while Hamby led all scorers with 25.

Boys Game
A balanced attack was the key for the Patriots as four players scored at least nine points on their way to a 59-49 victory.
Ryan Flatt and Braden Parrott led the attack with 17 points each, and both came out hot. Parrott (7 points) and Flatt (6 points) led the Patriots to a 13-10 lead after eight minutes of play.
Mt. Pisgah added nine points to their lead in the second period after outscoring Maryville Christian 15-6 in the frame, making the score 28-16 at halftime.
Parrott (5 points) and Mark Ladd (4 points) paced Mt. Pisgah in the second period.
The third period was nearly a draw, but the Patriots won the period, 13-12, to make the score 41-28 with eight minutes left to play.
Wyatt Stracener had a big third quarter for Mt. Pisgah with eight points while Parrott added five.
The Eagles put up 21 points in the final period, but Flatt pumped in nine and Ladd added five to keep Mt. Pisgah out of danger down the stretch.
Besides Flatt and Parrott, Stracener (10 points) and Ladd (9 points) played well offensively for the Patriots.
Peyton O’Briant led Maryville Christian with 18 points.
