Music galore slated at Roane County Band Fest on Oct. 7

-A A +A

Marching bands representing all five of Roane County’s public high schools will perform in exhibition concert at 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at Midway High School.

The annual Roane County Band Festival concert is a project of the Rotary Clubs of Harriman, Kingston and Rockwood.

Kingston Rotary Club is hosting this year’s event, which showcases the halftime shows of the marching bands of Harriman, Midway, Oliver Springs, Roane County and Rockwood high schools in a non-competitive atmosphere.

Maurice Greif, Rockwood Rotarian and the retired Voice of the Rockwood Tigers, will emcee the event.

Admission is canned food items, which will be collected by Rotary Club members at the Midway football field gates. Those who do not bring a canned food item will be asked to make monetary donations at the gate.

Canned foods that are collected during the event will be donated to Roane County food pantries.

A collection will be taken in the stands for funds to be divided among the five bands to offset their costs of participating in the event.

Call Ralph Best of the Kingston Rotary Club at 376-0578 or Greif at 354-9857 for details.
