Walnut Hill Baptist Church, Harriman, now offers food and clothing assistance.

Faye Daniels, the community church’s outreach laywoman, decided to organize the activity that will be open for distribution from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Tuesday.

“This is just something the Lord has laid on my heart for outreach,” she said. “I just wanted to be able to help the community. I know there are so many people out there in need.”

She added, “If we see a need, we’ll do it another extra day.”

Harriman Fire Department is kicking in by offering a place for food donations to be taken.

Daniels’ son, Brad Daniels, is assistant fire chief.

“We are going to be a drop-off point for them,” said Harriman Fire Chief Brad Goss.

Walnut Hill Baptist Church is at 106 Birch St.
