Roane County’s jail problems are supposed to be fixed once its new $10 million facility is completed sometime next year.
However, that may just be wishful thinking.
Sheriff Jack Stockton said the new jail is designed to hold around 180 inmates maxi-mum, and there’s a chance it could be overcrowded soon after it opens up.
Stockton reported that he would have had 146 inmates in jail on May 14 had some not been incarcerated in other facilities and out on ankle bracelets.
