I read with interest the article on Kingston’s (pop. 5,934) tour of area city halls (Alcoa, pop. 8,449; Crossville, pop. 10,795; and Farragut, pop. 20,676) and was struck with the obvious question: does Kingston need a new city hall?
At first glance, the answer is yes. However, a closer look indicates otherwise. The building is old, the offices cramped and there are stairs, but does that mean the taxpayers of Kingston want to spend their hard-earned tax dollars on a new city hall?
