Larry Kleinman has been named Covenant Health’s executive vice president for human resources.
Covenant is the parent company of Harriman’s Roane Medical Center.
Kleinman succeeds the retiring Sam Buscetta.
He most recently served as senior vice president for global talent management and customer innovation at Kenexa, a Pennsylvania-based company specializing in human resources technology and products.
Kleinman’s experience in health-care leadership includes serving as chief human resources officer for Providence Health and Services in Seattle.
He was responsible for all aspects of human resources at Providence, which operates 29 acute care hospitals, 35 non-acute facilities, a university and a high school.
He developed a long-range human resources strategic plan, implemented succession planning and reward systems, designed measurement tools for tracking increases in customer effectiveness and decreasing turnover, led labor relations strategies, and developed recruitment strategies and applicant tracking systems.
Kleinman also has served as a senior human resources executive for several other private and global companies.
He has been a management consultant to numerous Fortune 500 companies in the areas such as designing business processes, leadership training, and creating effective organizational cultures.
Kleinman holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Ithaca College in Ithaca, N.Y.
He has a master’s degree in human resource management from New School for Social Research, New York, and has completed the prestigious Harvard Executive Program.
