The Roane/Loudon County Farm Service Agency is seeking area farmers and ranchers to serve on the county committee for the coming year.
An informational meeting to explain the county committee nomination and election processes will be from 10 a.m. to noon June 17 in the FSA office at 424 N. Kentucky St., Room 100, Kingston.
Anyone interested in more information about the FSA county committee may drop in at any time during this meeting or call 376-2392.
“The election of agricultural producers to Farm Service Agency county committees is important to all farmers and ranchers, whether beginning or long-established with large or small operations,” said Sandra Childs of the Roane/Loudon County FSA. “It is crucial that every eligible producer participate in these elections, because FSA county committees are a link between the agricultural community and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.”
County committee members help deliver FSA farm programs at the local level.
Farmers and ranchers on county committees represent producers in their community and help with decisions necessary to administer programs.
They work to ensure FSA agricultural programs serve the needs of local producers.
