Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s annual ORNL United Way campaign is now underway.

Roane County United Way Executive Director Dina Jackson attended this year’s campaign kick-off event.

Key speakers included radio personality Hallerin Hilton Hill and Donnie Tyndall, head basketball coach for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Ron Crone, associate ORNL cirector for Neutron Sciences, is leading this year’s campaign with co-chairman Phil Britt, who directs the Chemistry Division.

Crone said that he has had personal experience with the United Way and is passionate about United Way and the impact the organization has on the community through their partnered agencies.

“It was really great to hear the inspirational stories that Hallerin Hill and Mr. Crone shared with us and the impact that the United Way has had on their lives.” Jackson said.

“It feels right to give — it feels even better when you hear that by giving to United Way, you’ve made a difference in someone’s life,” she added.

Roane County United Way will have its campaign kick-off event at the end of August.

The United Way campaign season runs from September through December each year; however, contributions can be and are made throughout the year.
