Drema Butler, a licensed practical nurse at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, has been named MMCer of the Month for December.
Butler, of Oliver Springs, has been with Methodist since 2006. As an LPN on 5 West, she assists nurses with patient care and strives to provide excellent service to both patients and their families.
“I appreciate this award and all of my co-workers, especially the one who nominated me,” she said.
Butler is described by Darlene Ray, 5 West clinical nurse manager, as “a pleasure to work with and an asset to MMC and nursing.”
“She is consistently recognized by her peers as a wonderful nurse and team player,” Ray said.
According to Butler’s nomination, “She always has a positive and upbeat attitude when she is at work. She is an excellent role model and a great choice to provide training to our new nurses.”
The nomination said Butler has an excellent bedside manner and will go out of her way to make a patient feel special and to fulfill their requests.
“She always thinks of others needs before her own,” the nomination said.
It’s noted that she works efficiently and thoroughly and offers help to others when she’s done with her duties.
“She is like the Energizer Bunny and just keeps
going on,” the nomination said.
Butler and her husband, Edwin, have two grown children, Sam Butler and Carla Suttles.
She is a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, and in her spare time, Butler enjoys sewing, gardening, and drag racing and is a member of the IHRA.
She also enjoys spending time with her six grandchildren.
