OS’s Christmas in the City this weekend

Oliver Springs’ Christmas in the City on Dec. 15 will kick off with a 3:30 p.m. opening ceremony at the Court of Flags on Hwy. 61.

Lineup for the town’s annual Christmas parade starts at 4:45 p.m. at Arrowhead Park.

The parade will start at 5:30 p.m. and proceed along Main Street.

A turkey dinner and music starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Disabled American Veterans Building at 530 Kingston Ave.

Tickets for the dinner are $10 each.

Greg Johnson and Sharon Tarwater will provide music.

Also part of Oliver Springs’ holiday festivities is a 7 p.m. Christmas service in the historic Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Winter’s Gap Road and Spring Street.

Pastor Ken Johnson will be bringing the message, with the Little Leaf Baptist Church’s Youth Choir  providing the special music.

The choir is under the direction of Marie Jackson and Deirdre Oliver.

It began as an outreach minis-try of the Little Leaf Missionary Society, and consists of the Sunshine Band and Red Circle groups.

Twenty members strong and growing, these enthusiastic and spirit-filled vocalists are ages 4 and older.
