The Oliver Springs Middle School Bobcats and Lady ‘Cats played their final games before Christmas break last Monday when they hosted Midway.
The results were mixed for the host team as the Lady ‘Cats won the girls game, 63-20, but the boys game was won by the Green Wave, 46-30.
Both the Green Wave and Bobcats will be playing Thursday in the 2012 Rockwood Christmas Classic.
Sarah Channell went off Monday as the Lady ‘Cat guard scored 25 points in leading Oliver Springs to a 43-point victory.
Channell (9 points) and teammate Alyssa Suttles (6 points) were both feeling it early as the Lady ‘Cats jumped out to a 21-6 lead after one period of play.
The second period would see Oliver Springs outscore Midway 17-4 to take a commanding 38-10 halftime lead.
Suttles scored six points for the Lady ‘Cats in the second period while Caitlin Ross led Midway in the first half with five.
The third period turned into the Sarah Channell show as she buried two three-pointers and scored 14 points in the frame to help the Lady ‘Cats extend their lead to 62-16 with one period left to play.
Midway did outscore Oliver Springs 4-1 in the fourth quarter.
Besides Channell, Suttles also scored in double figures for the Lady ‘Cats. She ended the evening with 16 points.
Ross (9 points) and Micah Shirran (6 points) led the way for the Lady Waves.

The boys game was closer, but there still wasn’t a lot of drama as Midway cruised to a 16-point victory.
Midway took the lead early by outscoring Oliver Springs 11-5 in the first period of play. The Green Wave then started to pull away as they outscored the Bobcats 12-5 in the second period to make the score 23-10 at halftime.
Jake Woody had a big first half for Midway with 11 points.
The third quarter would see Midway outscore the Bobcats 11-4 to make the score 34-14 entering the final period.
Oliver Springs did cut four points from Midway’s lead in the final frame, but it wasn’t enough to make things interesting down the stretch.
Woody led Midway on the night with 11 points. Landon Atchley and Landon Davidson were next in line with six each,
Garrett Andrews and Matt Gaylor scored six points each to lead the Bobcats.
