OSMS sweeps Cherokee

dy Bobcats had more boards than 84 Lumber Thursday night, using 38 rebounds to propel them to an impressive 49-18 win over the Cherokee Middle School Lady Jackets.

Cherokee took the lead early on with a 9-7 advantage at the end of the first period, but after that, it was all Oliver Springs. 

The Lady 'Cats went on an impressive 21-4 run to close out the first half with a 28-13 lead. Cherokee would score the first three points of the second half before the Lady 'Cats went on an 8-0 run to take a 36-16 lead going into the final period. 

Down the stretch, the Lady 'Cats closed out strong with a 13-2 tally in the final period for the 49-18 win.

The Lady 'Cats had a 10-9 edge in team steals, but where they really did their damage was a 38-14 advantage in rebounds. 

Emily Griffith (19 points, 6 steals) and Rachel Griffith (9 points, 5 assists) were the leading scorers for Oliver Springs with Sydney Duggins (6 points, 13 boards) Courtney Jones (7 boards) also playing well in the win.

Cherokee was led in scoring by Kalli Sampson (5 points) and Rachel Baggett (4 points). Rachel Layne (5 boards) also had a standout performance in the loss.

Boys Game

The Oliver Springs Middle School Bobcats motto  Thursday night was

"Just say Noe”, Aaron Noe, that is, as he tallied 17 points in leading the Bobcats to 34-19 win over Cherokee.

Oliver Springs had an 8-5 advantage at the end of the first period and took a 13-9 lead to the locker room. The Bobcats then went on a 12-5 surge in the third period to take a 25-14 lead and had a 9-5 tally in the final period to take the 34-19 win. 

Cherokee had a 29-28 edge on the boards and a 13-11 tilt in team steals. 

Oliver Springs was led on offense by Noe (17 points, 6 boards) and Markus Miller (5 points, 6 boards). Shelby Morgan (9 boards) also had a pivotal role in the win. 

Cherokee was led on offense by Tyler Thompson (6 points) and Brandon Donathan (4 points, 5 boards). Matty Martin (8 boards) and Riley Adcock (6 boards) also played well in the loss.
