Paper unemployment checks a thing of the past

Tennesseans receiving unemployment benefits are no longer looking for that check in the mail.
That’s because the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development has phased out paper checks.
Claimants are now receiving either a Visa debit card called Tennessee Automa-
ted Payment or electing to have their benefits directly deposited into their bank account.
