Waiting is still the safest option when it comes to the future of the former Harriman Papermill site.
“My recommendation for the city at this time is to stay away from the site,” said U.S. Environmental Protection Agency retiree Andy Avel.
Avel has been working with Harriman officials on possible cleanup of the property, which has been owned by several different companies over the years.
The site along the Emory River is under EPA consideration for possible cleanup designations.
