A local man accused of a weekend murder was arraigned in Roane County General Sessions Court Monday before Judge Dennis Humphrey.
Ricky Patterson is charged with first-degree murder in the death of David Lowe. He allegedly stabbed Lowe in the stomach on Saturday around 5 p.m. Lowe was pronounced dead at Roane Medical Center.
According to the E-911 report, a caller advised that Patterson, armed with a knife, was headed to a home at Old Quarry Lane to attack Lowe. Lowe was later found unconscious at the home with a wound to his stomach.
Sheriff’s Investigator Greg Russell said the knife that is believed to be the murder weapon was found in a ditch.
“Witness Charles Turpin stated that Ricky came back down the road and threw the knife in the ditch and said, ‘I did it,’” the affidavit states. Russell said Patterson was upset with Lowe over a woman.
Patterson is being held at the Roane County Jail on a $250,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 4.
