In celebration of the Creative Arts Co-op’s 10th anniversary, Roane Writers Group will have an open poetry reading from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at 426 Ruritan Road, Harriman.
Award-winning poet and poetry editor John C. Mannone will host the event.
“Whether the work is original or something written by a favorite published poet; whether the poetry is literary or genre; free verse or traditional form; lyrical or conversational; spiritual or political; read or performed, the RWG wants to give it an audience,” said B.J. Gillum, one of the event’s organizers.
The public is welcome to share family-friendly poetry: high school and college students, teachers, amateur and professional poets, and anyone who appreciates the literary arts.
“The setting will be cozy with table seating, and the poetry will be read from the stage,” Gillum said. “Come and listen to some of the abundant talent in our region.”
Poets will include Mannone, Tim Joseph, Linda Lynch and Judy Haney-Haese as well as other Writers Group members.
Those wishing to read are encouraged to arrive early. Light refreshments will be served.
The event is free to the public, but donations — jointly benefiting Roane Writers Group’s scholarship fund and Creative Arts Co-op — will be accepted.
