Post-Flag Day cookout set at Westel Fire Department

-A A +A

Westel Fire Department’s monthly fundraising dinner on June 20 will be hosted by Woodmen of the World Chapter 900.

The cookout, with hamburgers and hot dogs, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the fire hall west of Rockwood on Hwy. 70 in the Westel community.

Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children, with all proceeds benefiting the fire hall.

Call Terry Carter at 388-6846 for further details.

Woodmen of the World will have this event in honor of Flag Day, which was June 14.

A Flags Across America presentation at 3:45 p.m. will precede the cookout.

Woodmen of the World representatives will present a flag to the fire hall.

Flags Across America is a visible way to support the country and its symbol of freedom.

Second only to the United States government in volume of flags purchased each year, Woodmen celebrates and honors the American flag throughout.

Woodmen encourages its chapter members to raise the flag at their chapter hall, homes or places of business; say the Pledge of Allegiance with family members, neighbors, co-workers or fellow members; and present flags to organizations in the community.
