Presidential Book, Materials awards open to more seniors

-A A +A

The Roane State Community College Foundation’s Presidential Book and Materials Scholarships are now open to more graduating high school seniors who plan to attend Roane State.

Once reserved strictly for valedictorians, Presidential Book and Materials Scholarships are available for high school seniors with a grade-point average of 2.5 or higher.

Two Presidential Book and Materials Scholarships will be awarded at each public high school in Roane, Anderson, Campbell, Cumberland, Fentress, Loudon, Morgan, Roane and Scott.

Applicants must be accepted to Roane State to be eligible for the scholarships, which are worth $500 per year ($250 for each semester).

To receive the award, students must be enrolled at Roane State in fall 2013.

Students can choose to receive an iPad rather than the scholarship.

Recipients will receive a certificate at their high school’s awards ceremony.

To apply, go to www.roanestate.edu/foundation and click on Foundation Scholarship Application.

Students should check with their high school counselors for the name of the specific Presidential Book and Materials Scholarships for their individual school.

A letter of recommendation from an applicant’s high school counselor must be uploaded into the scholarship application.

The application deadline is April 21.
