Growing business along Hwy. 70 means more roadwork on the busy stretch of highway.
Earlier this month a crew from Yates Construction dug up a stretch of roadway that served as an acceleration lane for drivers leaving Harriman’s Pinnacle Pointe development going toward Kingston.
Teddy Yates said plans are to install a left-turning lane for the physicians plaza that is being constructed across from the shopping center.
“They have to do the road improvements for the development,” Yates explained.
He said workers hope to have the project completed in the next week or so.
The company will also be doing additional dirt-moving work on the property where the medical complex is beginning to take shape.
Officials hope growth in the area off Interstate 40 exit 350 will accelerate with the construction of a new facility for Roane Medical Center.
Covenant Health is building the new hospital near the physicians plaza.
