A Harriman woman arrested for DUI has been charged in the hit-and-run death of 59-year-old Daniel Hester on Pansy Hill Road.

Raychell Christine Huckelby, 47, 222 Roberts St., was charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.

Harriman Police Chief Randy Heidle said Officer Joe Sherrill saw Huckelby’s truck stop, back up and then pull out, and followed because a light was out on the vehicle.

Sherrill made a stop and determined Huckelby was intoxicated. The next day, May 9, Hester was found dead on Pansy Hill Road. When Sherrill was called back in to work traffic diversion away from the crime scene, he asked where the body had been found and things started to fall into place, Heidle said.

Heidle said debris gathered at the scene matched some pieces missing from the front of Huckelby’s vehicle.
