The Roane State Raiderettes came close to picking up their first win of the season Friday night before dropping a 66-57 decision at home in overtime against Columbia State.
Saturday afternoon, however, the Raiderettes got that win in convincing fashion as they smashed Jackson State, 68-45.
The Raiderettes return to action this weekend when they travel to Volunteer State on Friday and Motlow State on Saturday.
The Raiderettes struggled from the floor Friday night and the result was a tough 66-57 loss to Columbia State in overtime.
Roane State’s shooting woes started early as they shot just 28.1 percent (9-32) from the floor in the first half.
The Raiderettes’ defense, however, kept them in the game as they trailed just 30-25 at halftime.
Roane State’s defense kept them in the game in the second half and they held a three-point lead before a late three-pointer forced overtime tied at 56.
Overtime didn’t go well for the Raiderettes as the Lady Cougars won the period, 10-1, to take home the 66-57 victory.
Rameja Bell led Roane State on the night with 18 points and seven rebounds while Jasmine Franklin recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Columbia State had four players in double figures led by Claire Franklin (18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists) and Keosha Wisener (18 points, 4 assists, 3 steals). Teri Williams (11 points, 15 rebounds) and Samantha Thomas (11 points) also scored in double figures for the Lady Cougars.

The Raiderettes didn’t have to worry about overtime Saturday as they blasted Jackson State, 68-45.
Roane State made quick work of the Lady Generals as they raced out to a 37-19 lead at halftime.
The Raiderettes added five points to their lead in the second half as they cruised to the 23-point victory.
Taylor Harris led Roane State with 22 points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Nicole Hassler was next in line with 19 points and six rebounds while Ashley Cox added 10 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Michaela Thompson paced the Lady Generals with 10 points.
