The Roane State Raiderettes at one point led by as much as 17 points, but had to hang on late in the going to escape with the 66-58 win over the Georgia Perimeter Lady Jaguars Saturday afternoon at the Harriman campus.
Roane State started the game on a 14-6 run and used an 8-2 run to get out to a 28-14 lead at one point, but a 16-6 rally late in the first half by the Lady Jaguars made the score 34-30 going to the locker room. The Raiderettes started the second half on an 18-5 hot streak, but a 9-2 run by the Lady Jaguars got them within eight points, but that was as close as they got as Roane State took the 66-58 win.
The Raiderettes had a 41-29 tilt on the boards, but lost in team steals, 17-13.
The Raiderettes were led in scoring by Tasha Phillips (23 points, 6 boards), Jill Herman (13 points) and Tasha Delaney (11 points, 5 boards).
Jassmine Franklin (6 points, 6 boards), and Jacquelyn Hickson (6 points) also had key scoring contributions while Takyan Gilmore (7 boards) led the Raiderettes in rebounding.
Georgia Perimeter was led in scoring by Tyra Smith (11 points) and Nicole Wells (11 points) along with Jasmine Jones (8 points), Brittany Logan (7 points, 8 boards) and Crystal Chaney (6 points).
Ry'van Buchanan (5 boards) also played well in the loss.
Roane State improves to 10-2 overall with the victory.
The Raiderettes return to action on Thursday, Jan. 6 with a road game at Spartanburg Methodist.
