The third time wasn’t the charm for the Harriman Blue Devils on Tuesday as for the third time this season, the Grace Christian Academy knocked off the Blue Devils with Tuesday’s 7-3 decision coming in the District 3-A Tournament winner’s bracket.

The good news for the Devils was that Tuesday’s loss was their first of the tourney and they could still advance to the Region 2-A Tournament with a victory over Rockwood on Wednesday. The loser of Wednesday’s game will be done for the season.

Harriman started strong Tuesday as they scored single runs in the top of the first and third innings to take a 2-0 lead, but the Rams came back with seven unanswered runs to take command of the contest.

Cody Barnard scored Harriman’s first run in the top of the first inning. Barnard led off the game with a single and he eventually scored on a two-out single from Ryne Goldston.

Mark Chesser scored Harriman’s run in the third inning. Chesser doubled and would scored on a wild pitch to give the Blue Devils a 2-0 lead.

Grace Christian, however, took the lead for good in the bottom of the third inning. The Rams used three hits and one walk to score three runs.

The Rams made it 7-2 in the fifth inning as they took advantage of three hits and two Harriman errors.

Harriman did score again in the top of the seventh inning, but they weren’t able to put together a rally.

Barnard scored the run after leading off the inning with a triple. Corey Webb drove in the run with a ground out to first.

Barnard (3-4 3B, 2 runs) and Goldston (2-3, 2B, 1 RBI) had multiple hits on the day for Harriman.
