Roane County High School band members are three-time winners for having the fastest team and most participants — 226 — in Buddy’s Race Against Cancer. Band members were joined by members of Kingston Church of Christ, friends, families and community members to form Band Together for a Cure at Knoxville World’s Fair Park. Penelope Uselton was this year’s team captain.
Lt. Col. Trish Sexton speaks to students about military service and the many reasons why people in the military choose to serve. She was the guest speaker for the school’s Veterans Day program. The students hosted a walk the Friday before Veteran’s Day and raised $1,174 for the Wounded Warrior Project. The money will be used in a variety of ways to help and empower wounded soldiers as they transition to civilian life.
