Retired teachers group says, ‘Oh, what a year!’

-A A +A

The members of Roane County Retired Teachers Association have just completed a very successful program year of service to the community, contributing over 8,000 volunteer hours to various organizations.
We are retired, but not from life!
Our meetings were very enjoyable due to all those who helped us.
Several merchants and organizations sponsored the meals:  Wellington Place Assisted Living; Griffin Insurance Agency; Citizens National Bank; Jamestowne Assisted Living of Kingston;  Mark Clem Shelter Insurance; Evans Mortuary; First Bank of Tennessee of Rockwood;  First Bank of Tennessee of Harriman; and one anonymous donor.
In addition, the staff of Kingston Community Center provided valuable assistance in scheduling and setting up our meeting room.
The center is a well-run asset to the community.
Informative and entertaining programs and music were given by Bob Abston, Sam Venable, Woody Wright, Sound Wave from Midway Middle School, George and Margie Wadlington, Amber Jacks, a flute ensemble from Roane County High School, the ABC exercise group, Gayle Watson of Tennessee Retired Teachers Association, and Emilee Richardson. Thanks to these people, we had a successful, entertaining and mind-broadening year.
If anyone would like to express appreciation for the lifetime of service given to children by teachers by sponsoring a luncheon, please contact Rebecca Layne at 354-1413.
Again, thank you to everyone who helped us in any way.
