Tammy Mullins’ first-grade class at Ridge View Elementary School, Rockwood, took first-place honors in Rockwood 2000’s Christmas-tree-decorating contest.

Seven trees displayed in downtown buildings were decorated by Ridge View students participating in the contest.

“The participation was truly in the spirit of Christmas and so well done that it was very hard for the judges to choose winners,” said Sandy McIntosh of Rockwood 2000.

The winning tree is on display in Rockwood Electric Utility.

Mullins’ class received $100 for the winning tree.

Second-place honors and $75 went to the Ridge View second grade for the tree decorated at Regions Bank.

Ridge View fifth-graders received $50 for their third-place tree at Garden Center Antiques.

All of the remaining participants won honorable mention for trees on display in J&B Furniture, Live & Let Live Drug Store, Rockwood Street Grill and The Shop.

“The members of Rockwood 2000 wish to extend a warm thank you to the students and teachers at Ridge View for making this project a festive and wonderful success,” McIntosh said. “Keep the spirit alive and enjoy the Christmas trees that were so beautifully decorated by the talented Ridge View Elementary students.”
