RMS reception to honor retirement of former principal

Rockwood Middle School will have a reception next week honoring the retirement of longtime school principal Bill Thompson.

The reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. April 19 in the Rockwood Middle School library at 434 W. Rockwood St.

Thompson, who spent more than half a century in education, retired last summer after serving as Rockwood Middle School principal for 39 years.

A former coach, Thompson was honored in 2009 when the school’s gymnasium was named for him.
