The Rockwood Middle School Tigers hit the road and picked up a big sweep at Lenoir City Thursday night.
In the girls game, the Lady Tigers took a 10-point lead into halftime, but had to fight and scratch down the stretch for a 41-38 victory over the Lady Panthers.
The boys game see Rockwood complete the sweep with a 44-30 victory.
The Tigers and Lady Tigers are now off until Jan. 2 when they host the RMS Christmas Tournament.
Rockwood’s Cassidy Tilley scored a game-high 20 points in leading the Lady Tigers to a 41-38 victory over the Lady Panthers.
Tilley got off to a blazing start. She scored 10 points in the first period along in leading the Lady Tigers to a 16-6 lead after one period of play.
Rockwood’s scoring pace slowed in the second period, but Lenoir City couldn’t take advantage. Both teams scored six points as the Lady Tigers took a 22-12 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Rockwood’s scoring pace stayed slow in the third quarter, but this time the Lady Panthers did take advantage. Lenoir City hit three three-pointers in the period and would pull even at 29 with one quarter left to play.
Karlee Bowling scored five of Rockwood’s seven points in the third quarter.
The final period would see Tilley and Camryn Evans come to Rockwood’s rescue. The duo scored six points each and that was just enough to give Rockwood the three-point victory.

A big first half was the difference as the Tigers ran its season record to 13-0 following a 44-30 victory at Lenoir City.
Four different Tigers scored in the first quarter as Rockwood led 11-6 after one period of play.
Tajh Bazel led the quartet with four points while Jackson Hicks hit a three-pointer.
Rockwood did even more damage in the second quarter. Led by a pair of three-pointers and eight total points from Colton Nuckols, the Tigers outscored the Panthers 18-9 in the frame to take a 29-15 lead at halftime.
Kolby Robbins chipped in four points for Rockwood in the second quarter.
Lenoir City made a run at Rockwood in the third period. The Panthers outscored Rockwood 12-8 in the stanza to pull within 37-27 entering the fourth quarter.
The Panthers, however, couldn’t keep it up in the fourth quarter. Lenoir City scored just three points in the frame as Rockwood went on to the 14-point victory.
Ryan McCain scored five points in the fourth quarter for Rockwood.
Nuckols led eight Tiger scorers on the evening with 10 points.
