The Rockwood Middle School Lady Tigers used a 13-4 run to close out the game and pull away to a 35-19 win over the Spring City Middle School Lady Bulldogs.
Both teams were deadlocked at 4-4 at the end of the first period, but Rockwood used a 9-1 run to take a 13-5 halftime lead.
Rockwood pulled out to a 21-10 lead at the end of the third period. The Lady Bulldogs got within seven points at one stretch, but a 13-4 tilt down the stretch gave the Lady Tigers the 35-19 win.
Rockwood had a 35-31 edge in boards but lost in team steals, 16-11.
Rockwood was led in scoring by Kelsey Underhile (12 points, 9 boards), Baylee Young (11 points, 9 rebounds), and Carson Evans (7 points, 6 boards).
Lexi Hill (6 boards) also had a strong showing in the win.
Spring City was led in scoring by Sydney Price (8 points, 10 boards, 5 assists), and Morgan Owensby (6 points, 8 boards).
Tyra McClendon (8 boards) also played well in the loss.

For a half, the Rockwood Tigers were involved in a shoot-out before pulling away in the second half for the 47-36 win over the Spring City Bulldogs.
Rockwood took an early 6-4 lead, but the Bulldogs went on an 8-0 run before the Tigers responded back with a 9-0 rally to close out the opening period with a 15-12 lead.
Rockwood outscored Spring City 11-8 in the second quarter to take a 26-20 halftime advantage.
Rockwood used an 8-0 run in the third period to take a 41-27 lead going into the final period.
Spring City had a 9-2 run to get within seven points, but the Tigers scored the last four points to seal the deal with a 47-36 win.
Rockwood had a 28-20 edge on the boards and a 17-15 edge in team steals.
Rockwood was led in scoring by Drake Long (12 points), Colyer Hicks (9 points, 9 boards, 5 steals), Kyron Inman (8 points), Colby Turner (8 points), and Jared Neerman (7 points, 6 boards).
Case Miller (5 assists) also played well in the win.
Spring City was led on offense by David Loden (21 points, 8 boards, 6 steals) and JJ Eaton (10 points, 7 boards).
