A registered sex offender is in custody at the Roane County Jail after he allegedly killed a woman at his home Tuesday night. Authorities charged Lonnie Lee White of 130 Kerns Lane, off of Lawnville Road, east of Kingston, with reckless homicide.
“From what we can tell right now is he took her back up there to his house last night and they were partying or whatever,” sheriff's office investigator Greg Russell said. “At some point in time, things, I guess, got out of hand, and he put his hands around her neck and strangled her.”
Russell said the deceased woman's next of kin has been notified, but he wouldn't provide her name.
White is listed on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's sex offender registry. His record includes a conviction for sexual battery, according to his sex offender profile.
Russell said White spoke with 911 dispatchers about the incident. According to a transcript of the call, White said he picked up a woman off the road who desired kinky sex and wanted him to strangle her. He obliged and then tried to perform CPR when the woman stopped breathing, according to the transcript.
Russell said White was sitting on his back porch when deputies arrived.
“I don't know what he was like when the first officers got there, but by the time I got to talk to him he was pretty calm,” Russell said.
White, 46, is being held on a $250,000 bond.
