The Roane County Democratic Party will have a County Convention at noon March 10 to begin delegate elections for the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

The convention will be in Rockwood City Hall at 110 N. Chamberlain Ave.

Registration begins at 11 a.m.

The local convention is open to any bona fide Democrat in Roane County.

Bill Taylor, a candidate for Tennessee’s 3rd Congressional District, will mingle with Democrats during the convention.

“Events like these are the bed-rock of our democracy,” said Tay-

“I am delighted at the chance to meet Roane County voters face to face and hear their concerns and views about what should be priorities in Washington,” he added.

Participants at the county convention will elect a group of county representatives to attend the Congressional District Convention on March 24.

Representatives elected from each county in the Congressional District, based on 2010 lines, will elect the delegates to the Democratic National Convention.

This year’s Democratic National Convention will be Sept. 3-7 in Charlotte, N.C.
