Roane Medical Center’s “Roane Rockers” will run and walk again in the annual Buddy’s Race Against Cancer on Nov. 14.

“The Buddy’s Race Against Cancer is a great opportunity for us to give to a cause that has touched so many people,” said Tricia Aycock, Roane Rockers team captain.

The Roane Rockers have set a fundraising goal of $6,000 and are working toward that goal through team member contributions and internal fundraising at the hospital for employee donations.

“Our first year participating, we won third place as a top Covenant Health fundraising team. Last year we won second place. This year, our eyes are on first place,” Aycock said.

The Roane Rockers are comprised of 10 team members from Roane Medical Center and their family members.

In addition to Aycock, the team includes Dr. Terry Bingham, Kathy Bingham, Steve Oran, Sherry Holt, Nancy Britcher, Kathy Brown, Bethany Brown, Jill Hill and William Hill.

The Buddy’s Race Against Cancer offers a 5K, “Two Mile Trek” or “Walk in the Park.”

Registration begins at 1 p.m., and the race starts at 3 at World’s Fair Park in downtown Knoxville.

This year marks the 17th anniversary of the Buddy’s Race Against Cancer.

Since its inception, the Buddy's Race has raised more than $3 million for cancer care and education in East Tennes-
see.

Race supporters have allowed thousands of medically underserved individuals to receive life-saving screenings and important cancer information each year.

Proceeds raised by the Buddy’s Race go to fight cancer locally. Prevention, early detection and education saves lives.
