The TSSAA recently handed out A.F. Bridges Awards to area schools and individuals at a regional meeting at Hardin Valley Academy.

A.F. Bridges awards are given to schools and individuals who display a high level of ethics and integrity in the teaching and promotion of citizenship and sportsmanship.

To be eligible for this award, schools must have no ejections of players or coaches and must have no reports of unsportsmanlike conduct for an entire school year.

Rockwood High School (Class A), was named the A.F. Bridges award-winner for East Tennessee.  Roane County High School was in the top three for Class AA in East Tennessee.

Alan Reed was also honored by being named the Principal of the Year in TSSAA Athletic District 2.

Both Rockwood High and Roane County High will now be able to select a senior that will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the TSSAA to the school of their choice.
