What a difference a month makes.
Roane County’s unemployment rate has consistently been among Tennessee’s five lowest for more than a year.
That all changed in April, according to statistics released last week by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
Roane County, which held the state’s fourth-lowest jobless rate at 7.7 percent in March, slipped to ninth place last month with an increase of 0.7 to 8.4 percent, the state reported.
