Roane State opticianry students honored

Roane State Community College opticianry students won scholarships to attend the Contact Lens Society of America’s annual conference.

The organization’s conference was April 25-28 in Newport Beach, Calif.

Students were asked to write papers to win the scholarships, and 11 Roane State students were chosen.

Honorees were Taleah Armes and Jenny Freytag, both of Wartburg; Jamie Beverwyk and Erica Hill, both of Kingston; Josh Crabtree of Loudon; Teresa Garrett of Harriman; Kayla Kirkland of Tellico Plains; Sarah LaVoie and Brandi Pauley, both of Knoxville; and Dan Sturk and Taylor Womac, both of Madisonville.

The Contact Lens Society of America is dedicated to the education, evolution and promotion of contact lens technology.
