Roane State Community College’s 2014 annual student art exhibition will be April 7-14 on the main campus in the O’Brien Art Gallery in Roane County.
An artists’ reception and award ceremony is planned for noon April 14.
This annual juried event is open to all Roane State student artists and provides an opportunity for students to hone their skills and gain critical exhibition experience.
Each student may submit up to 10 works, free of charge. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
Works must have been created between May 2013 to present. Any enrolled Roane State student may submit artwork for inclusion in the show.
No insurance is available. While every effort will be made to carefully house and present artwork, neither Roane State nor its employees are responsible for lost or damaged works.
The art gallery will not be open for viewing unless a monitor is present in the gallery.
Any sales inquiries will be directed to the artist.
Any questions should be directed to Bryan Wilkerson at 354-3000, Ext. 4748, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Digital images of all entries are due on jump drive or writeable disc and should be received by the Humanities office in the O’Brien building by 4 p.m. March 31.
Students entering works are asked to include a hard copy of the entry form along with the submission and clearly label the media.
Students are reminded that the selection of artworks for inclusion for the show is based on digital images of their work, not the actual works.
For that reason, students are asked to make sure digital images are professional and display the work accurately. For tips on photographing work, visit www.foundmyself.com/photographing-your-art.php.
Upon delivery of accepted artworks, each student must sign and submit the art gallery agreement. Entries that do not follow the prospectus guidelines may be disqualified.
Two-dimensional artworks should be professionally presented and ready to hang.
Artworks should be wired for hanging on the back of the piece, with picture hanging wire strung from the upper left side to the upper right. Place the wire as close to the top as possible.
Students should label the back of each work, with the exception of digital artworks, with their name, title, media, dimensions and email.
Included artists must deliver and help install their works from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 7 in the O’Brien Art Gallery.
Student artists will be notified of accepted works on April 3.
The exhibition will take place April 7-14. Student volunteers are needed to monitor the gallery.
Artwork must be removed immediately following the noon reception on April 14.
Artists who are unable be there are asked to make arrangements for someone to pick up their works.
