Two Tennessee Tech University students from Roane County are the recipients of nursing awards from the Cookeville-based university.

Nikki Taylor, a 2008 graduate of Midway High School, is this year’s recipient of the Whitlow-Crawford Endowed  Scholarship.

Amanda Foster is the recipient of the Nursing Development Council Endowment and McSpadden-McNew School of Nursing Endowment.

She is a 2002 graduate of Calvary Baptist School.

Both students are juniors in Tech’s nursing program.

Taylor, daughter of Simone and Robert Taylor of Kingston, is  actively involved in campus outreach, a nondenominational campus ministry.

She is also a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church.

Taylor said her plan following her graduation from Tech is to pursue a nursing career as an oncology nurse, preferably specializing in child oncology or psychiatric nursing.

Foster is the daughter of Mike and Donna Foster.  Her grandparents are Gene and Eula Adams and Sonny and Ann Foster of Rockwood.

Foster said she plans to work as a registered nurse in women’s health following graduation from Tech.
