The Roane County High School FIRST Robotics team is working down to the wire to raise funds to defray the cost of attending the world championship in St. Louis.
Students still have several thousand dollars to raise and ask that people consider donating by going to www.fundraise.com/tn-first-robotics/roane-county-high-school-robotics-team.
According to the team’s fundraising website, they have raised only $1,530 of their $5,000 goal as of Thursday morning.
The website said the team needs $11,000 to go.
The robotics team earned the chance to compete in the world championship by qualifying at the Smoky Mountains Regional the last weekend in March and only had a matter of weeks to raise funds for the unexpected trip to the world championship competition beginning April 24.
The team will be leaving Tuesday for St. Louis. Costs include hotels, food and the entrance fees for the competition.
