Rockwood’s city hall was once a swinging door for insurance salespeople, who approached employees with life insurance and other policies not related to the city-provided health insurance.
“We started opening doors and letting a dozen insurance people come through here,” Mayor James Watts said.
The city began helping its employees by having automatic payroll deductions to pay for these policies, a practice that has now resulted in confusion according to city officials.
